Job Description:
Respiratory therapist meets patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests; assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription. Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and supports life by administering inhalants; operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage; assisting with breathing exercises; monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes; directing treatments given by aides, technicians and assistants.
Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.

Assists with examinations and prepares instruments and equipment. Advocates for patient in order to achieve the best possible outcome. Step down nursing jobs involve care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who aren't unstable enough to need ICU care. Step down nurses monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. Many Steps down patients receive complex medications that may require titration based on the patients’ vital signs The Stepdown nurse is sometimes also called a step-down nurse and the PCU is also known as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown and ER holding.

- 4-week schedule will be sent to the RN two weeks ahead of time.

Please note: this candidate will be primarily in our normal PCU float unit. However, we have a new unit that MAY become active on our east campus location that would require chemo skills. Which is why your candidate has been selected. If this unit becomes active during your candidates contract they will be primarily moved to that unit.

Works with the Surgeon and other OR staffs to care for patients prior to surgery to complete paper in relation to the procedure going to be done to the patients, and help alleviate patients’ anxiety by answering questions within the scope of her profession before surgery. Monitors patients’ condition during and after surgery. Selects and pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during operation.
Requirements:
- Large OR (24 suites) in need of RN's that can work in a fast paced environment and sit in on a variety of case types. (burns, trauma, ortho, transplants, cardiac, GYN, urology, robotics, neuro, neuro/spine, ophthalmology, cardiac).
- RN will be needed to run the trauma room so they must have experience with working in a trauma Level I Complex case experience required.
- No 1st time travelers.
- Variable weekends is required as is floating to the Same Day Surgery Center if needed.
